First data in Serbia point to a comfortable victory for Vucic’s ruling SNS

The first vote projections for the parliamentary elections in Serbia this Sunday showed a comfortable lead for the ruling SNS partyfrom the Serbian president, Aleksandar Vucicwith 46.6% of the votes, Insajder television reported.

It is followed at a great distance by opposition coalition Serbia against violence (SPN), with 23%, according to the estimate based on NGO calculations Center for Free Elections and Democracy (CeSID) and the population agency Ipsos. According to these data, the Socialist Party (SPS) would have 6.9%, the right-wing opposition coalition NADA 4.8% and the new right-wing formation Us-Voice of the People also 4.8%.

If this trend continues, the SNS could obtain the absolute majority in the 250-seat Parliament. The vice president of the SNS and current prime minister, Ana Brnabicalready proclaimed the victory of his party, based on his own data, similar to the NGO’s projections.

Serbia held early parliamentary elections this Sunday, the fifth in ten years, as well as the elections for the Assembly of the northern region of Vojvodinaand municipal ones in Belgrade and 64 other cities.
