In particular, the company has been thrust into the political arena, with competing claims over the ownership and usage of its premises. The current owner, Vijayavarman, became embroiled in a dispute after Chief Minister M.K. Stalin proposed to erect a statue of former Chief Minister Karunanidhi at the entrance of the venue.
