Stephen Curry’s NBA-Record 3-Pointer Streak Ends at 268 Games: Warriors Hold off Trail Blazers

by time news

Stephen Curry, the NBA’s all-time leader in career three-pointers, saw his record-breaking three-pointer streak come to an end on Sunday night as the Golden State Warriors defeated the Portland Trail Blazers 118-114.

Curry, who had made a three-pointer in 268 consecutive games, went 0-for-8 from beyond the arc and 2-for-12 overall, scoring just seven points for the visiting Warriors. The streak began on December 1, 2018, against the Detroit Pistons.

“We can’t rely on Steph to bail us out on every single night,” Warriors coach Steve Kerr said. “It was a tough night for him. But that’s what a team is supposed to be about — everybody filling in for each other, different guys stepping up each night. That’s a great sign, because he’s carried us for long enough this year. We need to give him more help.”

Despite Curry’s off night, the Warriors were able to secure the victory, with Klay Thompson scoring 28 points and Andrew Wiggins adding 25 points and seven rebounds. Rookie Trayce Jackson-Davis also contributed with 14 points and eight rebounds.

Curry, a two-time league MVP, had previously set the second-longest streak for consecutive games with a made three-pointer at 157 games. He also holds the record for the most three-pointers in NBA history, recently making his 3500th.

This is not the first time Curry has struggled in a high-stakes game, as he missed all nine of his three-point attempts in Game 5 of the 2022 NBA Finals against the Boston Celtics. However, the Warriors were able to secure the championship, with Curry making one three-pointer in his previous 132 postseason games, another NBA record.

Despite the end of his record-breaking streak, Curry’s impact on the game of basketball is undeniable, and his teammates were able to step up to secure the win in his absence.
