Golden State Warriors forward Draymond Green to undergo counseling during suspension

Golden State Warriors forward Draymond Green has begun counseling and is expected to remain sidelined via suspension for at least the next three weeks, according to league sources.

The NBA announced on Dec. 13 that Green would be suspended indefinitely for striking Phoenix Suns center Jusuf Nurkić in the face during a game the night before. Joe Dumars, NBA executive vice president and head of basketball operations, cited Green’s “repeated history of unsportsmanlike acts” as a factor in the decision to suspend him.

League sources indicated that the 33-year-old is expected to undergo counseling and work with the Warriors and NBA during his suspension. Those close to Green and the organization have stated that the four-time NBA champion has been understanding and prepared to undergo the necessary process to return to the team in a full capacity.

As Green begins this counseling process, it remains uncertain when he will be able to return to the court. In the meantime, the Warriors will have to adjust to playing without one of their key players.
