Through the statement issued on the official website of the Federal Commission for the Protection against Health Risks (Cofepris) updated as of December 17, 2023, 2 thousand seawater samples were taken to analyze their condition and how safe they are.
A total of 254 beaches throughout the national territory were analyzed, with the support of the authorities of each state.
The results showed that, although 98% of the beaches were suitable for recreational use, six beaches located in the states of Baja California, Chiapas, Tabasco and Sinaloa showed high levels of bacteria, specifically Enterococcus faecallis, present in the feces. .
According to the results, the most polluted beaches are:

The beaches of Guerrero could not be analyzed due to the passage of Hurricane “Otis”.
All of those mentioned are beaches that show high rates of bacteria, so Cofepris does not recommend them as recreational sites.
