IDF Continues Operations in Gaza Strip as American Pressure Mounts
In the wake of increasing pressure from the United States to advance the war against Hamas, the Israel Defense Forces (IDF) has continued its operations in the Gaza Strip. This comes after two reserve fighters, Major (ret.) Daniel Yaakov Ben Harosh and Capt. (ret.) Rotem Yosef Levy, were killed in battles in the north of the Gaza Strip.
According to testimony obtained by Maariv, Hamas has been deploying suicide bombers in the conflict. A fighter stated, “Anyone who wasn’t inside doesn’t understand what we’re dealing with. There’s very heavy fighting here in a built-up area, and you can’t know where a Hamas ‘surprise’ will pop up, when at the same time we’re trying to locate abductees.” The fighter also revealed that “Hamas is using suicide bombers against us dressed in traditional Muslim clothing. They are covered from head to toe and under the clothing they have an explosive belt.”
In a targeted operation in Rafah, the IDF, with the intelligence assistance of the Amman and the Shin Bet, eliminated senior Hamas official Tzavahi Parwana. Parwana was known as a prominent financier who had been involved in transferring tens of millions of dollars to the terrorist organization Hamas. The IDF and Shin Bet stated that the military arm of Hamas heavily depends on funds transferred to it through money changers, and Parwana was a key figure in facilitating these transfers during the current conflict.
These funds were used for military strengthening, paying the salaries of terrorists, and financing the war activities of Hamas. Parwana’s actions enabled the military wing of Hamas to continue its ability to fight. The IDF and Shin Bet’s announcement highlights the significance of cutting off such financial support to weaken Hamas’ fighting capabilities.
As the conflict in the Gaza Strip continues, the IDF remains focused on its mission while also facing the challenges posed by Hamas’ use of suicide bombers and the critical role of financial support for the terrorist organization.
