A few months before the Paris 2024 Olympic Games, how would you like to become the owner of part of the athletes’ village from the 1968 Grenoble (38) Winter Olympic Games? The State is organizing a transfer by call for tenders of the site of the former Olympic village.

This district was specially created for the Olympic Games. It welcomed athletes before being transformed into university residences. More than 50 years later, the buildings which all bear the name of a participating nation: Switzerland, Austria, Canada… are looking for buyers. The 7 student residences and the cafeteria, with a surface area of more than 9,000 m², are now disused and walled up. Each residence is made up of 5 to 6 levels with 16 dwellings of 9 m² each per level, a kitchen, toilets, shared showers and a maintenance room. The buildings are dilapidated and two of them were burned down.

Housing or offices

The site is located in a building zone and allows the construction of housing or offices for example. You have until March 5, 2024 at noon to apply. No price is specified, it is up to the buyer to make an offer and the property will be sold to the highest bidder, as recalled West France who spotted the ad.

What about the athletes’ village in Paris? Will it also be put up for sale by the State after the Olympics? The organizing committee plans to transform it into a new district of Seine-Saint-Denis (93). The village was designed to be reversible, the change in use of the site was anticipated. The partitions of the athletes’ rooms will be removable. The Olympic and Paralympic Village will eventually accommodate housing. In total, the project plans to accommodate 6,000 new residents and 6,000 employees.
