Renowned sports commentator fired in Las Tunas

This December 13, the Las Tunas journalistic union fired the renowned narrator and sports commentator Hiram Sánchez Cajide, who died at the age of 68, due to complications after a sudden illness.

The headquarters of the Union of Journalists in Las Tunas opened a book of condolences until Friday, December 15, so that colleagues, friends, and listeners could come to the institution to show pain for the outstanding professional, whose voice accompanied the audience of the provincial radio station Radio Victoria.

With more than 35 years of experience in the activity, he leaves a void in the sector in the territory, and represents the loss of a master of sports journalism, a stellar voice on Las Tunas radio.

The Tiempo 21 site of the aforementioned Station reported that Hiram came to this medium in 1984, an institution to which he dedicated his entire professional life by working as an audio and remote control operator, in addition to doing voiceover work.

That same year he continued his work as a narrator-commentator that began in Mayarí, Holguín until he became one of the references in Las Tunas and Cuba.

He was the founder of the magazine Deporte y algo más, a space that for 34 years has accompanied lovers of Las Tunas sports, and together with Eddy López and Juan Emilio Batista Cruz, he promoted the baseball broadcasts of Las Tunas in the Doble Play space.
