Wrapped in blankets and shawls, with berets, gloves, jackets and anything that could cover the cold wind of the afternoon-night, hundreds of Saltillo families witnessed the passage of the Coca Cola Caravan and the traditional Christmas parade this Tuesday.
The start of the colorful floats was scheduled for 6:00 p.m., but an hour before, families took their place outside the soft drink facilities, at the intersection of Francisco Murguía and Miguel Ramos Arizpe.

Sellers of cotton candy and candy apples, as well as other sweets, also roamed the area. On the sidewalks, garages and flower boxes, these families were the first to see the gate of Fábricas “El Carmen” open, and the six luminous floats emerge, still in the evening light.
It was until the intersection of Ramos Arizpe and Guillermo Purcell, in front of Alameda Zaragoza, where the sun fell and the cars shined brighter. In front of each car, with the characters from the refreshment bar, a group of dancers in Christmas outfits livened up the passage.
Girls and boys enjoyed, pointing and applauding as the cars passed by. The older ones took video and photographs of the moment. There were also “selfies”, especially those who had made a purchase of headbands, balloons, swords, noisemakers and luminous bracelets whose price fluctuated “by the guess” of each seller.
A minimalist polar bear with robotic animation was admired by those present, but it was until the last car, which was more like the sleigh that transported Santa Claus, when the little ones began to shout and greet him. Some mothers told their children to yell at them for being good, other children specifically asked for gifts.
A Volkswagen car with a neon outline, a giant Christmas hat and a simulated wind-up key on its engine did not stop beeping. Without applause, the workers from the municipality’s Primary Services directorate concluded the parade.
Crews of municipal employees in their phosphorescent uniforms followed the passage of the caravan carrying black bags in which they collected the garbage thrown by some citizens during the parade that concluded north of the city.
