A plausible story, at times surreal, told through images, at the rhythm of comedy, to smooth out the edges of the drama of the protagonists’ inner solitude: it is “The rewritten finale”, debut novel by Amedeo Giovanni Tita, just published by Edizioni Artemis.

Set in Los Angeles in 2016, with subsequent developments up to 2018, and an ending that leads the reader into the near future of 2024, Bob and Francis are not only the protagonists of the adventure narrated by Tita but also the two cogs in that great machine from money that revolves around Hollywood: “the Cinema”, where icons such as Gary Cooper and Barbara Stanwyck live again.

Bob and Francis reveal themselves to be the mirror of two personalities and two very different paths that would never have met if an extraordinary event had not happened, of which they have no awareness. Together they will rewrite “Meet John Doe” which director Frank Capra brought to theaters in 1941 (in Italy the film first appeared with the title “Arriva John Doe” and then redistributed in 1956 as “The dominators of the metropolis”). While working on the screenplay, Bob and Francis will discover that together they have rewritten their destinies. In the novel, between hopes and painful notes, a message appears that seems to come from the same filmography of Frank Capra, author of the unforgettable “It’s a Wonderful Life”: “For each other we are instruments of God’s salvation”.

Amedeo Giovanni Tita was born in Forlì on 5 March 1969, the same month and day as Lucio Battisti, of whom he is a huge fan. Son of Lucanian parents, he has lived in Bologna since the age of 5, where he completed his studies, graduating in Engineering, and where he carries out his professional activity. He has always been passionate about cinema, in particular the so-called Golden Age of Hollywood. He prefers Vittorio De Sica as actor to De Sica as director, Pietro Germi to Roberto Rossellini, Giovanni Guareschi to Cesare Zavattini, “The Count of Monte Cristo” to “The Pillars of the Earth”. He says of himself: “Educated according to Christian principles, which he has always shared, he has a secular and liberal vision of the world, open to sociality”. He has been married to Francesca since 1997 and is the father of 5 children.
