Woman remanded for 14 days in connection with boy’s death at madrasa

The Kalmunai Magistrate’s Court has ordered that the woman who was arrested in connection with the death of the boy who died in the madrasa be remanded for 14 days and the case related to it be adjourned for re-trial till January 04.

Kalmunai Police Headquarters arrested a female supervisor of Appadasalai on suspicion of the death of a boy who died while staying at a children’s correctional school under the Kalmunai Headquarters Police Division of Amparai District.

Then on Thursday (21) he again ordered the above when he was brought before Kalmunai Court Judge MSM Samsuddin.

While the case was taken up for investigation, the deceased boy’s father and sister visited the court premises and the applications of the police and the defendant’s lawyer were scrutinized and the 28-year-old supervisor of the school, Prinsi Pulendran, was ordered to be remanded.

Background

The incident took place after Kokuvil was arrested by the police on the charge of stealing a bell from a girls’ and children’s good behavior school in the Islamabad area under the Kalmunai police division of Amparai district on the 17th of last month and was kept in custody as per the judge’s order after the court case investigation.

The person who died mysteriously in the said incident has been identified as Anandadeepan Darsan, a 15-year-old boy from Kokuvil area of ​​Batticaloa.

Regarding the mysterious death of the boy, the body of the boy, which was kept at Kalmunai Ashraf Memorial Hospital Road, was sent to the Ampara General Hospital for post-mortem after the parents said that they were informed that he was dead last Wednesday (29.112023) at 3.30 in the morning and there were injury marks on the boy’s body.

Supervisor arrested

According to the medical examiner’s report, it was stated that the death was due to blunt force trauma and internal injuries.

After this, regarding the incident Kalmunai Headquarters Police Station Officer M. Under the guidance of Ramsheen Bakir, a police team led by Deputy Inspector General of Police S. Janakeethan, Head of various Crime Prevention Divisions and Chief Inspector of Police ML Rafeeq went to the school and conducted a series of investigations.

In this case, a 25-year-old female supervisor on duty at the asylum was arrested on suspicion of assaulting the said boy that day.

A fair trial

The arrested suspect was brought to the Kalmunai Headquarters Police Station on Saturday (2) night and is being detained and is being interrogated.

In this case, the girl, who is the supervisor of the school, was arrested for questioning by the police on the suspicion that she stood in the school premises after having dinner on the day of the incident in the shelter where the boy was kept, and that she did not know what happened afterwards.

Later on Saturday (2) night, they were brought to Kalmunai Police Station and taken legal action after being interrogated.

It is noteworthy that the father of the deceased has said that many false accusations have been made in front of the school management in the death of his son and that we who live below the poverty line should not have similar incidents happen to our child and a fair investigation should be conducted in the death of the child.
