Stellantis increases its production by 17.8% with more than one million cars in Spain

The Stellantis Group manufactures the Citroën -C4 and -C4 Opel Combo Life/Combo Cargo and Peugeot Partner/Rifter, which are produced in Vigo. All of them are also produced in their 100% electric versions.

A number of models that have led the automotive group to remarkable figures, since it has produced more than one million vehicles in its three Spanish plants (Vigo, Zaragoza and Madrid) throughout the year 2023, which represents 17. 8% more than the 851,661 units manufactured in 2022.

Of them, almost 140,000 vehicles have been 100% electric, around 22.8% more than the BEV vehicles produced a year ago, of which almost 70,000 units have left the Vigo plant, more than 44,000 units in the plant in Figueruelas (Zaragoza) and more than 25,000 in its factory in Madrid.

The Vigo factory is the one that has produced the most vehicles in Spain, with 531,732 units, 31.4% more, followed by the Figueruelas plant, with 365,739 units (+0.13%), while the Madrid plant has increased its production by 29.4%, up to 105,830 units.

“These figures have been contributed to by the group’s leadership in commercial vehicles and the high demand for the Peugeot 2008 in the main European markets,” Stellantis claimed in a statement, underlining the importance of the models produced in Vigo.

For its part, 365,739 vehicles have left the company’s Zaragoza plant in 2023, of which more than 44,000 units have been 100% electric. The 100% electric models arrived in Zaragoza in 2019 thanks to the manufacturing of the Opel Corsa, and two years later the plant’s own battery assembly workshop was inaugurated.

Stellantis has highlighted that this Zaragoza factory has a 360 sustainability approach, which is part of the company’s strategic decarbonization plan, Dare Forward 2030. An example of this is the photovoltaic plant inaugurated in 2021 that covers a third of electricity consumption. from the Figueruelas factory.

Regarding Figueruelas, Stellantis is in talks with the Government to obtain the necessary financing for the viability of the known as ‘Antares Project’, the battery gigafactory that the company intends to build in the area.

Likewise, the Stellantis plant in Madrid has achieved 105,830 units, while almost a quarter (24%) of the production in this factory has been 100% electric vehicles, with the exclusive production of the “successful” Citroën C4 and C4 X and its 100% electric versions ë-C4 and ë-C4

In addition, Stellantis has indicated that it has completed the second phase of installation of its photovoltaic plant, which, in addition to the first installed in 2021, allows it to cover up to 35% of the factory’s electrical needs.
