Chief Secretary Sivdas Meena inspects flood affected areas in Tuticorin district

The Chief Secretary of Tamil Nadu, Sivdas Meena, recently visited the flood affected areas in Tuticorin district to assess the impact of the heavy rains that hit the region in the past few days. Meena, along with his team, inspected the damage caused by the unprecedented heavy rains in Tirunelveli, Thoothukudi, Kanyakumari, and Tenkasi districts.

A whopping 95 cm of rain was recorded in Kayalpatnam of Thoothukudi district, leading to extensive damage to roads and infrastructure in the area. Meena’s visit focused on the Maravan Math Panchayat Antoniyarpuram Bridge, which was severely affected by the heavy rains. During his visit, he interacted with the local residents to understand the impact of the floods on their lives.

The Chief Secretary also visited the rain water drain leading from Chenkulam stream to Uppar stream near the bypass bridge, where he assured that repair works are being carried out swiftly to mitigate the damage caused by the flooding.

Meena emphasized the importance of quick and effective response to such natural disasters and assured the affected communities that the government is taking all necessary measures to provide relief and assistance to those impacted by the floods.

The visit of the Chief Secretary reflects the government’s proactive approach in addressing the aftermath of the heavy rains and its commitment to the welfare of the people in the flood affected areas.
