Time.news – The final of the 62nd edition of the Campiello Prize will be held in Venice on Saturday 21 September at the La Fenice Theatre. Walter Veltroni has been reconfirmed as president of the Jury of Writers, among this year’s novelties is the entry of a new member into the Jury of Writers: Alessandro Beretta.

Beretta was born in Milan in 1978. Literary critic, journalist, film programmer and cultural promoter, he graduated in Modern Literature with a thesis on Jean-Luc Godard. Since 2001, he has worked on fiction for Corriere della Sera and, from the first issue, for the La Lettura insert.

In 2015, he was among the founding members of the independent bookshop Verso in Milan. he was artistic director of the Milano Film Festival from 2011 to 2021, awarded the Ambrogino d’Oro in 2015. The 62nd edition of the Campiello Prize officially begins with the definition of the Literary Jury. Novels published for the first time in volume between 1 May 2023 and 30 April 2024 and regularly on the market are eligible to participate.

Neither non-fiction, nor poetry, nor works translated into Italian from other languages ​​are admitted to the competition. On 31 May 2024 the Jury of Literary Writers will meet in Padua to select the five finalists and announce the First Work Award. The winner of the 62nd edition of the Campiello Prize, indicated by the Jury of three hundred anonymous readers, will be proclaimed on Saturday 21 September in Venice.
