The general director of the Mexican Social Security Institute (IMSS), Zoé Robledo, pointed out that the actions carried out in health matters at the national level will be replicated in Chiapas. That is why the new and largest public health system on the planet is built: IMSS Wellbeing.

The official headed the work report of the head of the Representation of the IMSS in Chiapas, María Luisa Rodea Pimentel, and conducted a supervision tour of the 144-bed General Zone Hospital (HGZ) being built in Tuxtla Gutiérrez, in which 3,478 million pesos were invested.

Within the framework of the extraordinary session of the IMSS State Advisory Council, Robledo stressed that when an official is in a public position, his daily life is focused on decision-making; However, these resolutions must always be “with your feet on the ground and your head held high,” like the one he chose to transform the country’s health system.

Promote public health in Chiapas

As an example, he said that the Tuxtla Gutiérrez Zone General Hospital will allow us to be decisive for the rights of the entity, because the logic was not only to grow in the number of beds, but also to have more specialties and specialists, a regional center for childhood cancer care, tocosurgery and endoscopy, Breast Clinic, Clinic of the Pain and later, in the overall project, have a linear accelerator.

“It will mean that the patient can be treated here but also that the generations of doctors and specialists who have left our state, and who perhaps did not have the opportunity to return because their specialty was not covered by Social Security, today will have it. That is why our call, and we are working hard with the Union, to begin recruiting the hundreds of specialist doctors and of course all the personnel that this great hospital will require.”

Zoé Robledo added that the Ordinary Social Security Regime serves with its facilities, personnel, resources and fees exclusively to the beneficiaries, but now the IMSS Bienestar health care institution has to be “as similar to the IMSS for the care of the population without social security.”

He added that the seven Regional High Specialty Hospitals are part of the IMSS Wellbeing to offer Third Level care: Yucatán Peninsula; Bajío, in Guanajuato; Ciudad Victoria, in Tamaulipas; Ixtapaluca, in the State of Mexico; Oaxaca; Tapachula; and Tuxtla Gutiérrez, Chiapas.

From IMSS Coplamar to Wellbeing

“Our program is one of the things we are most proud of, a program born in 79 like IMSS Coplamar that did everything for the care of non-entitled beneficiaries and continues to do so, we see it here in our 10 hospitals. But it was time to evolve towards something more, a model of public care, free, preventive, highly specialized and of course always with a perspective of the State doing what the State is responsible for.”

He recognized the work carried out by the head of the Deconcentrated Administrative Operation Body (OOAD) of the IMSS in Chiapas, with the accompaniment of the Advisory Council where discussions are carried out with work, a lot of respect, dialogue and results.
