The Zosimaia Public Central Historical Library of Ioannina and the 2nd Experimental Primary School of Ioannina signed a two-year Agreement of Cooperation and Interaction, following a proposal by the school’s director Vassos Vergou.
The 2nd Experimental School is housed in the Zosimaia Pedagogical Academy, is part of the University of Ioannina and is represented by the president of the Scientific Supervisory Board of the 2nd Experimental Primary School, Professor Konstantinos Kotsis.
The two bodies, in the context of their institutional role, will utilize their experiences and capabilities, in order to undertake initiatives and implement actions for the benefit of the students and teachers of the 2nd Experimental Primary School of Ioannina.
In particular, the parties agreed on the formation of a cooperation framework, in order
– to make students aware of reading, local history, cultural heritage and expression of feelings,
– to pilot, provide feedback and re-evaluate educational programs and actions of “Zosimaia”, which are aimed at 7-12 year olds,
– to achieve the professional development of teachers, by participating in seminars, workshops, programs to update knowledge and skills, and new technology applications,
– to organize actions in the context of the operation of the Skills Workshops and the pilot implementation of new study programs, with the aim of awakening and strengthening interest in issues related to mental, emotional health and empathy, crisis management and diversity management.
It is estimated from the collaboration that valuable synergies and multiplier effects will be developed, which will contribute both to the upgrading of the services, actions and programs of “Zosimaia” and to the awareness and development of the knowledge and skills of the students of the 2nd Experimental Primary School.
In this context, a number of joint actions have already been implemented. 1st and 2nd grade attended (webex) the educational program “Slowly, slowly one apology at a time” based on the book “How many more apologies, pigeon?”, 3rd and 4th grade students attended (webex) the educational program “The donkey said to the rooster…”, while the older children of the 5th and 6th grades visited the Library and participated in the experiential workshop “Journeys to the Book Country of Zosimaia”.
Also, the “Educational Actions and Events Department of the Library of Knowledge and Emotions” of Zosimaia welcomed the 3rd grade of the school, which participated in the Christmas activity “Svelta and with speed! Watch out for the chimney!’
Finally, the teachers of the 2nd Experimental Primary School participated in the “Digital Tools in Education” workshop, and specifically in the 1st cycle “Applications Workshop”, which is implemented in the Library area and concerns the use of applications, with smart phones or Android tablets, which can be utilized in educational practice.
