“I am very impressed by the donation result. Especially in these economically difficult times, it stands for cohesion and willingness to help. That’s Christmas for me,” says OZ editor-in-chief Andreas Ebel.

Money for young sports and therapy horses

The projects were again diverse this year. Anne-Kathleen Schäfer from the ASB children’s farm “In Natura” in Rostock is happy about a generous donation. “This is really crazy. I didn’t expect that,” says the social worker. 36,394 euros were raised for a new therapy horse for children and youth work – there is still money left for equipment, veterinary and feed costs, among other things.

Several donation targets in Wismar and on Rügen

23,384 euros were collected in Wismar – the money will benefit two projects. In addition to the Wismarer Tafel, the volunteers from the “Lunch for Body and Soul” are also happy. The social meeting place serves people with little money and those who don’t want to eat alone.

The sum is also shared on Rügen. The support association for hospice services, which supports the accompaniment of seriously ill people and their relatives on their final journey, would like to offer the helpers special training. The other half of the 14,842 euros goes to “Network Rügen”. The association’s food bank supplies more than 2,000 people on the island.

Money for swimming courses and cultural activities

With the help of OZ readers, good things can also be done in Grevesmühlen. The Disabled People’s Association takes care of the integration of people with physical and mental limitations. Most members have never attended a cultural event. That should now change – 6,670 euros were donated for this purpose.

This year, the local editorial team in Bad Doberan worked to ensure that children in the region can continue to learn to swim in the future. Readers donated 9,510 euros to the Rerik local group of the DLRG.

Note: You can continue to donate to individual projects. All information can be found in the local editions of the newspaper and online at www.ostsee-zeitung.de/themen/oz-weihnachtsaktion.
