Fatal Crash on Parkway East Claims Life of 24-Year-Old Man

Tragedy struck on the Parkway East overnight, as a crash left one person dead and several others injured. The incident occurred around 1 a.m. Monday on the inbound side near Edgewood and involved three vehicles.

According to state police, the crash unfolded when one vehicle overturned and became disabled in the left lane. The driver managed to exit the vehicle and was aided by two Good Samaritans who had stopped on the shoulder of the roadway.

As this was happening, another vehicle traveling inbound attempted to navigate a right curve just before reaching the overturned vehicle. Despite efforts to avoid a collision, the second vehicle ultimately struck the disabled car, causing it to hit the guide rail and careen towards the shoulder, where it struck the three individuals who were outside the vehicle.

Tragically, the driver of the first vehicle, identified as 24-year-old Dax Antonio Hernandez-Reyes, succumbed to his injuries after being transported to UPMC Mercy. Meanwhile, all other occupants involved in the crash were also taken to local hospitals for treatment, although their current conditions remain unknown.
