New Delhi: BCCI secretary Jay Shah has said that Ranji Trophy cricket will be played in two phases. The decision to hold the tournament in two phases was taken after the spread of Kovid in the country.

The first phase will be league matches. The second round will include knockout matches. The knockout match will start in June.

The BCCI was forced to postpone the Ranji Trophy matches due to the expansion of Kovid. The CK Naidu Trophy was also postponed.

Last year too, the Ranji Trophy match was played during a severe Kovid expansion. The BCCI is preparing to host the Indian Premier League along with the Ranji Trophy
