A few days before his inauguration, Andry Rajoelina travels through the popular neighborhoods of the city of Antananarivo. Last Saturday, he was in Ambohimanarina, during his visit to this district, he said he wanted to create a new city dedicated to the most deprived with decent housing and essential infrastructure.

Since his first mandate, Andry Rajoelina’s program has included the construction of several “new towns”, including the Tanamasoandro project. The work was supposed to start at the end of 2019 but after the discontent of the inhabitants of Ambohitrimanjaka who contested the installation of the new city in their area, the project was moved to Imerintsiatosika . Since then, no progress or official communication on the future of the new city has been announced.
