The Indian cricket team has had a bad time since last October. The first two matches of the Twenty20 World Cup were lost in the group stage. The result was a Test-ODI series defeat to South Africa.

With the Twenty20 World Cup and the ODI World Cup looming, it is imperative that India overcome this crisis. Former coach Ravi Shastri has come up with advice for new coach Rahul Dravid on this occasion.

Ravi Shastri has said that Rahul Dravid will have to excel in training to bring back the team as Kohli has resigned as captain and other key players have been rested due to injuries. The next four to five years will be crucial for Indian cricket. Dravid and management need to be prepared to identify players who are capable of taking the team forward. Shastri said that instead of keeping the same squad in every match, it would be beneficial to mix young and experienced players in the match.

The next 8-10 months are for changes. Change is inevitable if you are aiming for a better future. This is the ideal time. Keep the youngsters playing for the next six months. Shastri said things would go awry if they remained the same.

India now lead the ODI – Twenty20 series against the West Indies. The first match will be played on February 6 in Ahmedabad.
