Zack Snyder’s Rebel Moon – Part One: A Child of Fire has taken the streaming world by storm in its debut week on Netflix. The film, which premiered on December 22, managed to rack up an impressive 23.9 million views in just a few days on the service, making it the number one English-language film from December 18 to 24.
All eyes will be on Rebel Moon in the coming weeks to see if it can secure a spot on Netflix’s most popular film list. The current tenth place film, Extraction 2, amassed just under 135 million views in its premiere window, so Rebel Moon has its work cut out for it.
In addition to Rebel Moon, Leave the World Behind is also making its way up the ranks. Sam Esmail’s apocalyptic thriller came in second place for the week, drumming up 19.7 million views and surpassing 100 million views in its first three weeks on the streamer.
Other films making waves on Netflix’s Top 10 list include Chicken Run: Dawn of the Nugget, The Super Mario Bros. Movie, Adam Sandler’s Leo, and Family Switch. On the TV side, My Life with the Walter Boys maintained its top spot, The Crown held strong in second place, and Squid Game: The Challenge notched another week on the list.
In the midst of all these popular titles, Trevor Noah’s comedy special, Where Was I, premiered with 3.8 million views, landing itself in the third spot on the TV charts. The success of these titles on Netflix is a testament to the continued popularity and impact of streaming services.
