In an extraordinary council, the Board of Directors of the Port Authority of Valencia (Spain) has approved the specifications that establish the legal-economic conditions for the tender for the new terminal. The new space will be located in the northern expansion of the port of Valencia, thus marking the beginning of the process for its construction.

The decision follows the approval of the Government of Spain for the contracting, which allows the Port Authority to move forward with the approval of the specifications. Meanwhile, the call for the tender will be published soon in the Official Journal of the European Union and on the Public Sector Contracting Platform of Spain. Therefore, interested companies will have until March 6, 2024 at 1:00 p.m. to present their offers.

It is worth mentioning that the base budget for the bidding of the construction project, which includes dredging, dock and consolidated filling, amounts to more than 660 million euros. For its part, the approval of the project took place in the session of the Board of Directors on December 2, 2022.

In a public-private collaboration scheme, the project will have a total investment of more than 1.6 billion euros. In turn, the Port Authority of Valencia will be in charge of building the basic infrastructure, while TIL, a subsidiary of the shipping company MSC, will invest in the superstructure, facilities and rolling stock.

The Government considers that the expansion of the port of Valencia represents a strategic investment at a national level, with an undoubted economic impact in terms of job and wealth generation.

Apart from this initiative, it is worth mentioning that the Port of Valencia has recently awarded Hiades Business Partners the development of an integrated management platform for maritime traffic operations for an amount of 472,100 euros.
