Tragedy Strikes Sangakiri Police Station: One Dead, Another Injured in Mysterious Explosion
Sangakiri, Salem District – A mysterious explosion at the Sangakiri police station premises has left one person dead and another injured. The incident occurred during the annual inspection and cleaning work at the station, which took a tragic turn when a mysterious object exploded from the burning garbage, causing chaos and panic in the area.
Hematullah (45) and Ibrahim (25) from Sangakiri were engaged in cleaning around the police station along with Rajkumar (30). They piled the collected garbage in the station premises and set it on fire. The explosion occurred when a mysterious object fell from the burning garbage onto the roof of the police station, causing it to explode again. Hematullah was seriously injured due to a tin tear in his leg and succumbed to his injuries while being transported to the hospital. Another individual, Bharat from Bhawani, who was present at the station for an unrelated investigation, was also injured and is currently undergoing intensive treatment at a government hospital.
The incident caused a stir in the area, leading to a large gathering of people in front of the police station, prompting the arrival of Salem District SP Arun Kapilan, who inspected the site and conducted inquiries about the incident. Additionally, in the initial investigation by the police, firecrackers were found among the garbage collected during the cleaning operation, suggesting that the crackers exploded when they were set on fire without proper care.
The police have registered a case and are currently investigating the incident. The tragic events at the Sangakiri police station have left the community reeling and searching for answers as to how such a tragic and mysterious incident could have occurred.
