CDMX.- The deputy of the National Action Party (PAN), Héctor Saúl Téllezdenounced the 66 percent cost overrun of the Interoceanic Train, a work carried out by the administration of President Andrés Manuel López Obrador.

Through his social networks, the legislator spoke about the supposed “non-viability” of the work and highlighted irregularities in the figures represented by said construction.

“The Interoceanic Railway Corridor project is nothing more than a renovation of the railway lines that have already existed since the last century,” he said.

“For the year 2020, resources of 382.5 million pesos were foreseen, for 2021 1,648 million pesos, 2022 3,505 million pesos; 2023, 6,800 million pesos while for 2024, 20,845 million pesos,” the deputy explained.

Héctor Téllez compared this work with others carried out by the federal administration previously and pointed out that there is similarity in its operation and expenditure.

“The high amount authorized for the year 2024 stands out, given that the President has supposedly carried out an inauguration. If so, at the end of 2024 the expenditure incurred will be 33,180 million pesos. Which would be a 66 percent more cost overrun. “Just like the other works,” he explained.

The deputy also said that President López Obrador created the Interoceanic Corridor of the Isthmus of Tehuantepec (CIIT) and then, on a “whim,” put it under the command of the Ministry of the Navy.

“This is another work marked by the whim of the President, with serious cost overruns due to the lack of planning, without feasibility and profitability, with subsidies for life and also delivered to the administration of the armed forces, this one to the Navy,” he shared in X’s account (formerly Twitter).
