Israeli Entrepreneur Making Solar Energy More Accessible to Consumers

Despite the environmental and financial benefits of installing a solar system in homes, few Israelis have taken the leap due to fear of unfamiliar technology. However, Dor Kurniansky, entrepreneur and CEO of GreenDays, is working to change that by making solar energy more accessible to private consumers.

Kurniansky, along with his partner Nitzan Hatzroni, has created a project that aims to bring the use of solar energy closer to consumers. Their platform offers a customized home solar system using open databases of aerial photographs, laboratory tests of solar system components, and meteorological service data on solar radiation in different regions of Israel.

The platform allows customers to enter their information and receive quotes from several solar system installation companies. The algorithm then determines the most profitable offers and recommends the top two to the customer.

“With our platform, we’re trying to save customers the confusion of comparing different offers and establishing contact with different companies,” Kurniansky explains.

One of the main barriers to the adoption of solar technology in Israel is the upfront cost. Purchasing a system requires a significant investment, with the return on investment taking several years. However, GreenDays is working to address this barrier by providing a platform for customers to receive multiple offers and choose the best one for them.

The company operates on a commission-based business model, taking a small percentage from the companies for every deal closed through the platform. While they are not yet profitable, Kurniansky is confident in the value they are providing to both consumers and companies.

“We offer added technological value to the companies, which saves them time and effort when providing quotes to direct customers,” Kurniansky says. “We also have plans to expand our platform to include new technologies for home consumers, including storage technology.”

Overall, Kurniansky is optimistic about the potential for solar energy in Israel and believes that GreenDays can play a significant role in making renewable energy more accessible to consumers.

“We want to be in the middle of everyone who wants to switch to renewable energy,” Kurniansky adds. “We’re here to make the process as seamless and cost-effective as possible for both consumers and companies.”
