Thiruvananthapuram – The Ayirur police have made an arrest in a disturbing case of sexual harassment involving young sisters. The suspect, an 88-year-old man named Vasudevan, was taken into custody after it was reported that he had molested the girls, who are in LKG and second class, at their home in Palayamkunn.
According to reports, Vasudevan, who was acquainted with the children’s family, would frequently visit their home. The harassment came to light after a teacher noticed one of the girls displaying signs of distress at school and reported it to Childline. During counseling, the child disclosed the disturbing incidents involving Vasudevan.
Following the report from Childline officials, the Ayirur police took action, resulting in Vasudevan’s arrest. He was subsequently presented in court after undergoing a medical examination, and charges have been filed under the POCSO Act.
This case serves as a stark reminder of the importance of vigilance and reporting any signs of abuse, and the authorities have emphasized the need for communities to work together to protect vulnerable individuals from such heinous acts.
