The far right is strategically grabbing rural land and other real estate across Germany with the common goal of creating communities independent of the state, according to the national intelligence agency and government ministries. Authorities and NGOs monitoring far-right groups claim that members of the Reichsbürger movement, which rejects the post-1945 German state, are making a selective effort to establish parallel societies and infiltrate existing structures, such as schools, clubs and public organizations.
According to a recent information request to the Federal Ministry of the Interior submitted by Martina Renner of the left-wing opposition party Die Linke, far-right organizations have purchased 40 properties across the country in the last two years.
