Samsung Galaxy S24: No Two-Way Satellite Connectivity for Emergency Situations

by time news

Samsung’s upcoming Galaxy S24 may disappoint fans who were hoping for the inclusion of iPhone-like satellite connectivity for emergency situations. Last year, rumors circulated that the Galaxy S23 might feature this capability, but ultimately, the feature was absent from the phone. Now, it seems that the Galaxy S24 will also lack two-way satellite connectivity.

Reports from ETNews indicate that Samsung is currently testing the Galaxy S24 with three network operators in South Korea. The absence of any mention of two-way satellite connectivity in these tests suggests that the feature may not be included in the upcoming flagship phone. This decision comes despite previous rumors suggesting that screenshots from One UI 6.1 referenced the feature, leading to expectations that the Galaxy S24 would indeed include satellite connectivity.

Two-way satellite connectivity is designed to be used in emergency situations or in areas without cellular network reception. While the feature debuted in the iPhone 14 series last year and has also been implemented by Huawei, Samsung seems to believe that the technology is not yet mature enough for inclusion in their flagship phones.

Industry insiders have indicated that Samsung may be planning to debut its two-way satellite connectivity in the Galaxy S25 series, which is expected to be a significant release for the company. While it is rumored that Samsung has developed its own two-way satellite connectivity feature, it may not be utilized in the Galaxy S24.

For now, it appears that fans of the Galaxy series will have to wait for the Galaxy S25 to potentially see the inclusion of two-way satellite connectivity, as the upcoming Galaxy S24 may not feature this emergency-focused technology.
