Four People Sentenced to Death in Iran for Espionage

Yesterday, four individuals, including a woman, were sentenced to death in Iran after being accused of espionage in connection with Israel’s Mossad. The accused were convicted of engaging in various crimes for Israel, including human trafficking, threats, burning vehicles and houses, and stealing mobile phones. They were tried in an Iranian court and found guilty.

According to a press release issued by Mizan, which publishes Iranian court news, the four individuals were being monitored by Iran’s intelligence service since January 2022 and were arrested in May. The press release stated, “Four people who were involved in conspiracy against Iran were sentenced to death under legal proceedings. They were prepared by Israel for a very big plan.”

The four convicted individuals were identified as Wafa Hanare, Aram Omari, Rahman Barhaso, and Nasim Namasi. Iran has been accusing Israel of conspiracies inside its country for several months, but Israel has neither acknowledged nor denied the accusations.

The sentencing of the four individuals comes amidst ongoing tensions between Iran and Israel. It remains to be seen how this development will impact relations between the two countries in the future.
