Once again, another year has passed, we have moved forward one more year in our lives, but there are some people who, by making some small and some big efforts, have won the hearts of all of us. You also appreciated the efforts of some of our real life heroes who are trying to preserve the environment for the coming generations. Let’s meet 5 such people, who have built excellent eco-friendly homes and homestays by keeping the environment in mind.

Madhavi Bhatia from Delhi left a good job and came to Himachal and converted her ancestral house into an eco-friendly homestay. One of the oldest houses in Shimla, built from stone and mud 200 years ago, Sunnymead Homestay reflects the antiquity and culture of this place.

This house is built using the ancient Indian stucco wall technique, which is rarely seen today.

2. Red Soil Stories

To preserve their food culture, Shirish and Pooja Gavas of Maharashtra left city life and settled in their village Tumdar in Konkan and started their YouTube channel!

He himself adopted it by learning from the village people and their daily life; Also started a YouTube channel named Red Soil Stories to show and connect more people with the Konkani lifestyle.

3. Chick

Surrounded by greenery, this house has been designed in such a way that it feels like a part of nature, without cutting a single tree! This house located in Shoolagiri village of Tamil Nadu has been built by award winning architect Vinu Daniel from 4000 plastic bottles and mud.

‘Choozhi’ means ‘curved’ in Malayalam, as is the look of this house. Its glass roof makes the people living here feel even closer to nature. By sitting under it one can look at thousands of stars twinkling in the sky. Apart from being beautiful, this house is also very relaxing.

4. Punjab’s eco-friendly house made of cow dung

You may have seen many houses made of concrete, perhaps even houses made of mud and bamboo.. but have you ever seen a house made of cow dung? It is believed that like many natural things, pure cow dung also has many properties. This is the reason why in ancient times our elders used it in many ways.

In villages, the walls and floors of houses are still plastered with cow dung and it is used to mop the kitchen; But imagine how unique it is to build a solid, big and strong house in the city with cow dung! This amazing work has been done by Dr. Virender Singh Bhullar, resident of Ludhiana city of Punjab.

5. Pugdundee Safaris Camp

Manav Khanduja and Shyamendra Singhare, co-founders of Pugdundee Safaris, started this project in the year 1986 due to their attachment and love for nature by setting up some tents in Panna National Park of Madhya Pradesh and today this Pugdundee Safaris Camp is not one or two, but These are built in the middle of forests in 7 different places like Haryana, Madhya Pradesh and Maharashtra.
