A police intervention north of Los Angeles cost the life of a 27-year-old black woman on December 4, reports the Guardian. Faced with the questions raised by the death of this mother, shot dead by an officer, the Los Angeles police released the video of the intervention on Friday, December 29, filmed by on-board cameras. We see three police officers arriving at the young woman’s home, who opens the door for them, a knife in her hand, her 9-year-old daughter at her side.
The victim had called 911, the American emergency number, to ask for help from his ex-companion: “He doesn’t want to leave my house… He doesn’t want to leave me alone… I need the police all right away,” she said on the phone, according to a recording viewed by the Guardian. Three officers were sent to the scene.

In the video, the woman opens the door to the police, a knife in her hand, before returning inside amid loud voices. “I’m going to stab him,” she says. Her daughter points to a man in the back of the room and appears to say that he “hit” her. The woman then approaches the man in question. It was then that one of the agents opened fire four times.
The mother “was transported to the hospital where she was pronounced deceased,” police said. The police officer responsible for the shooting was suspended during the investigation. According to several American media, he had already killed a black man in 2020 during an intervention. The man present in the apartment was arrested for child abuse and assault on a police officer, before being released pending investigations.
