EC Red Bull Salzburg ended the year with another win. The Eisbullen beat runner-up Bozen 5-2 in front of their own crowd on Saturday and moved level with leaders Fehérvár in the ICE Hockey League table after points lost.
Against Bozen of all places, Thomas Raffl showed off his goalgetter qualities again. Salzburg’s veteran hadn’t scored in five games, but was clearly the match winner in the Volksgarten with goals to make it 2-0 (13th), 3-1 (28th) and 4-2 (43rd) on Saturday. Troy Bourke opened the evening with the goal to make it 1-0 (11th), Peter Hochkofler (54th) scored the final point after Raffl’s three goals. The South Tyroleans, who started with five wins en suite, proved to be stubborn opponents and stayed in the race for a long time thanks to two power play goals.
