Teen flying alone on Frontier Airlines ends up in wrong city

A 16-year-old boy traveling alone on Frontier Airlines over the holidays had a terrifying experience when he ended up on the wrong flight, landing in San Juan, Puerto Rico instead of his intended destination of Cleveland, Ohio.

Logan Lose was headed from Tampa International Airport to visit his mom for the holidays on December 22, but instead, found himself more than 1,200 miles southeast in San Juan. His parents were understandably panicked and wanted someone to be held accountable for the error.

“They would’ve known it was the wrong flight if they scanned the boarding pass,” Logan’s father, Ryan Lose, told a TV station. The Frontier Airlines agent at the gate reportedly checked Logan’s baggage, looked at his mobile boarding pass, and told him he could get on the plane.

Once he landed in San Juan, Logan texted his family for help, saying, “I’m so scared. They told me it was Ohio.”

Frontier Airlines has acknowledged the mistake and has extended their sincere apologies to the family for the error. The airline flew Logan back to Tampa on the same aircraft and accommodated him on a flight to Cleveland the following day.

However, Logan’s father is not satisfied with just an apology and a $200 travel voucher. He wants accountability for the error, especially since Frontier Airlines does not have an unaccompanied minor program that escorts young travelers like many other airlines do.

This incident comes on the heels of a similar mishap involving a 6-year-old flying alone on Spirit Airlines, who was incorrectly put on a flight to Orlando instead of Fort Myers, his intended destination.

Spirit Airlines has stated that the responsible agent is no longer working with the company and that anyone whose actions resulted in the incorrect boarding will be held accountable.

It’s clear that both families involved in these incidents are looking for more than just apologies and are seeking assurances that measures will be put in place to prevent similar errors from occurring in the future.
