Eight People Arrested in Connection with Jewelry Theft and Robbery

Tirupur: The Kundasil police have apprehended eight individuals connected to a series of jewelry thefts and robberies that have plagued the area in recent months.

The arrests come after an 89-year-old man, Palanisamy, and his 80-year-old wife, Muthaiammal, were robbed at knifepoint in their home in Shankaraithottam, Vellakovil. The masked gang made off with 41 pieces of jewelry, 10,000 rupees, and two mobile phones.

In a separate incident, a gang of 11 people was arrested by the Vellakoil police in connection with another robbery. Four individuals, Richard Sachin, Edison Raj, Aravindan, and Praveen Lawrence, were recommended by Tirupur SP Sami Nathan to be arrested under the Prevention of Gangster Act. On the orders of the Collector, the four were apprehended by the Kundasil police.

In a third incident, Jyothika, a 47-year-old grocery store owner, was robbed of 9 Sawaran’s jewelry by two individuals pretending to be customers. The two perpetrators, Stephen Raj and Atheeswaran, were arrested by the Perumanalluar police and are now in jail, facing charges under the Gangster Act.

Finally, Kandasamy, a 50-year-old petrol station manager, and his family were targeted by two men on a two-wheeler who snatched a 10.5 savaran necklace from his wife. The culprits, Gavin and Mariyappan, were arrested by the Avinasi police and have been detained under the Gangster Prevention Act.

The arrests are a significant development in the fight against organized crime in the area, and authorities are hopeful that the apprehension of these individuals will lead to a decrease in such incidents in the future.
