Kollidam: Bundles of rice were brought to the ration shop in Konnankattupadugai village near Kollidam in Mayiladuthurai district by a lorry on behalf of the Tamil Nadu Consumer Goods Corporation at around 10 pm yesterday. When it tried to die from the truck, the bundles of rice in the truck were substandard. The Urmas immediately rallied under the leadership of Panchayat leader Chandrasekhar and stopped the unloading of rice bundles in the lorry, saying they would not allow substandard rice to be unloaded at the ration shop and distributed to the people.

Provide quality rice. The rice bundles that are currently being brought should be taken back. Authorities cordoned off the area and chanted slogans demanding that appropriate action be taken. Informed Puthuppattinam Inspector Chandra, Kollidam SI, Manikanda Ganesh and police rushed to the spot and held talks.

The villagers then refused to accept the supply of such rice to the village and demanded that it be brought in a lorry and taken back. In this case, the substandard rice brought by lorry overnight was sent back. This caused a stir in the area at night.
