Motorists must not have believed their eyes as they took the national road along Lake Serre-Ponçon on December 28. A small Twingo traveling between Crots and Savines-le-Lac (Hautes-Alpes) had on its grille… a dog! That of Anaïs Laciofano (25 years old), to be precise.

“We were going to hit the road. The dog was in the trunk still open and we had to strap our daughter into the car seat. A cat was passing by and our dog started chasing it. » Love, the name of this adorable husky crossed spaniel, then crosses the highway and is hit by a car.

“The firefighters had all the trouble in the world to extricate him”

“We heard the sound of the shock, but when we arrived there, there was no trace of Love,” continues Anaïs, who then begins to search the area for the animal that she believes is huddled in a corner, dying. She was far from suspecting that the dog with the black and white coat had unwillingly become the figurehead of a Twingo.

The driver, having surprisingly heard nothing of the impact, continued imperturbably on her route for more than 10 km. It was only after a series of headlight flashes and horn blasts that she finally stopped to put an end to the ordeal of her stowaway, her legs dangling above the asphalt.

“The firefighters had all the trouble in the world to extricate him. It was the first time they had seen this, reports Love’s mistress. It was the vet who called us to tell us that he was in his hands, alive! We stopped believing it would happen. It’s a miracle. »

Despite three broken legs and a broken femur, the intrepid eight-month-old dog had no vital organs affected. A new operation this Tuesday and plenty of rest will allow him to roam around again. If cats have nine lives, this high-alpine dog has at least two.
