This is a real proof of love!
Star composer Ralph Siegel (78, “A Little Peace”) is still doing poorly after his serious back operation. In the hospital, the ESC legend bravely fights his way back to life. His most important support these days: his wife Laura Siegel (40).

Ralph Siegel to BILD: “Laura has decided to move into the clinic with me while I still have to stay here. We have a nice double room and it feels good that she is always close to me.”
Laura Siegel explains: “Because I would have visited Ralph every day anyway, I said I could stay with him in the clinic. Luckily, that’s possible here. It’s reassuring for me that I can be near Ralph at night too.”

The couple spent New Year’s Eve together in the hospital room.
Ralph Siegel: “We ordered food from an Italian restaurant. Laura had fish, I had carpaccio and pasta. Luckily I haven’t lost my appetite yet.”
Highlight of the evening: At midnight, Ralph and Laura opened a bottle of champagne! The hit producer: “I didn’t want to miss that. I even got up to toast for the first time after the operation. That’s just how it should be.” With the help of a walker, Siegel can now walk a few steps.

Before the operation, the doctors had diagnosed Siegel with spinal canal stenosis (narrowing of the spinal canal), which required urgent treatment. Otherwise there would have been a risk of permanent nerve paralysis.
Is Siegel still in pain? “Unfortunately yes. The nerve pain is unbearable. It feels like a Bunsen burner is being run over my skin. The doctors say I have to be patient now. Of course I also get painkillers.”

His little plush poodle Burli is always at Ralph Siegel’s side. Laura Siegel: “I put Burli in bed with Ralph after the operation. Before he even opened his eyes again, Ralph held him tight and wouldn’t let go.”
Ralph Siegel: “It’s important to me that I woke up from the anesthesia and was alive. And that my Laura is with me. I think things are looking up for me now.”
