Stocks in the United States fell at the close of trading on Monday, with the Dow Jones losing 0.05%. The S&P 500 also weakened by 0.28%, and the Nasdaq decreased by 0.56%.

Leading stocks in the index included Travelers Company, which added 0.61% to its value, and Verizon Communications and Procter & Gamble, which both added 0.56%. The best performers in the S&P 500 were Boston Scientific, Molina Healthcare, and Hershey, which gained 2.72%, 1.47%, and 1.27%, respectively. Meanwhile, Albemarley, Warner Bros. Discovery, and PayPal Holdings saw declines of 3.31%, 2.65%, and 2.65%.

On the NASDAQ index, the best performers were Stanage, China SXT Pharmaceuticals, and Kilian International, which added 182.49%, 91.79%, and 69.58%, respectively. The weakest stocks included Global Mofy Metaverse Ltd, Q Health, and MOBIX LABS, INC, which fell by 49.91%, 42.23%, and 34.42%.

Despite some fluctuations in the stock market, there were still some notable milestones in individual stock performance. Boston Scientific climbed to a five-year high, while Stanage reached a 52-week high. Conversely, Q Health and MOBIX LABS, INC fell to all-time lows.

In commodities trading, the gold futures contract for February delivery and crude oil futures for February delivery experienced declines, while the March contract for Brent oil futures remained relatively stable. The EUR/USD pair traded with stability, while futures on the US dollar index traded up 0.15%.

The overall trading day ended with more declining shares than those that closed higher on the New York Stock Exchange and the NASDAQ stock exchange. This shift prompted the a closing price of the index, which measures the implied standard deviation of options on the S&P 500, to remain unchanged.
