Former WWE Champion Rumored to Appear on WWE RAW
There has been much speculation surrounding the upcoming January 1 episode of WWE RAW, with reports indicating that a former WWE Champion is expected to make an appearance. Now, a new update has shed some light on the situation.
According to Sean Ross Sapp of Fightful, the qualifications of the “WWE Champion” phrasing are unclear, but it seems to indicate that it refers to a former WWE Champion, not someone who has held another title.
Sapp also reports that despite speaking to talent and creative sources within WWE, no one seems to know the identity of the individual, but they are set to have a full segment on RAW.
In addition, there has been speculation about The Rock making an appearance on RAW, especially after he appeared on College GameDay in Pasadena, just a few hours away from San Diego, the site of RAW. While a WWE higher-up hinted at the possibility, they did not confirm or deny The Rock as the former champion. However, Sapp writes that The Rock is the one who is expected to appear on RAW.
Furthermore, WWE president Nick Khan was reportedly seen “hanging out” with The Rock in Pasadena on Monday, adding fuel to the speculations.
