“The Ring of Snow” on Netflix: “No one was forced to eat human flesh”

On October 13, 1972, the plane carrying a rugby team, some friends and family, from Montevideo (Uruguay) to Santiago (Chile), crashed in the Andes mountain range, on the Chilean side. Of the 45 passengers and crew members on board, only 29 survivors remained, stuck at high altitude, in an extremely inhospitable environment.

Quickly running out of water and food, some seriously injured, the passengers kept their spirits up, hoping for quick help. But they are slow to come. While many begin to die of exhaustion or hunger, a few survivors resolve to do the unimaginable: eat the corpses of their friends…
