Three weeks after the end of 2023 ended with a mixed record in Lenzerheide, the French biathletes will meet in Germany for the fourth of the nine rounds of the World Cup season. Starting this Friday, the Tricolores will have to complete four individual events (two sprints, two pursuits), before the Sunday relays.

Amazing since the start of the season, the French hope to once again count on victories from Lou Jeanmonnot and Justine Braisaz-Bouchet. The first scored a double in Östersund, a success taken to an even higher level by the second, author of a hat-trick in the sprint, the pursuit and the mass start from Lenzerheide. The results are much less rosy for the boys, who have not yet managed to achieve the slightest individual podium, their worst start to the World Cup in 27 years. Scheduled for Thursday, the men’s sprint was postponed to Friday morning due to bad weather conditions.

Consequence within the men’s collective: Émilien Claude, although top 10 during the first individual of the season, leaves the group. He is not replaced, so there will only be five of the Blues on the German slopes. Chloé Chevalier and Gilonne Guigonnat are replaced by Jeanne Richard and Océane Michelon, who both shone in the IBU Cup, the secondary circuit.

The program for the Oberhof stage. Friday January 5: men’s sprint (11:20 a.m.), women’s sprint (2:25 p.m.). Saturday January 6: men’s pursuit (12:25 p.m.), women’s pursuit (2:40 p.m.). Sunday January 7: men’s relay (11:30 a.m.), women’s relay (2:25 p.m.).

All events will be broadcast on the L’Équipe channel and Eurosport 1.
