Israel’s Northern Border Stagnation: What’s Next for the IDF?

Title: Israeli Security Forces Assessing Options in Ongoing Conflict with Hezbollah and Hamas

After months of stagnation and a sense of impasse on the northern border, Israeli citizens are being evacuated from their homes, bringing the government closer to a decision on intensifying the military response to the conflict with Hezbollah.

The IDF has exacted a heavy price from Hezbollah, eliminating approximately 140 operatives and significantly damaging their Redwan forces’ military infrastructure. The Air Force has also been involved in regaining air traffic freedom that was lost in recent years due to surface-to-air missile threats.

However, these actions have not caused Hezbollah to lay down the fire, leading to concerns about the ongoing conflict. Qassem Soleimani, commander of the Quds Force, has orchestrated simultaneous attacks on Israel’s southern border and the Lebanese border, with smaller-scale attacks from Syria, Iraq, and Yemen.

This week’s assassination of Saleh al-Arouri in Beirut’s Da’iyah district has disrupted Israel’s plan to limit the strength of the reaction against Hezbollah, forcing the government to reassess its strategy in the conflict.

Despite the efforts to cut down individual and important figures for the Iranians, they have continued to expand their influence, with the idea and religious concept of the Revolutionary Guards and Hamas remaining strong. The IDF is also facing difficulty in reaching an achievement in the Gaza Strip, where senior Hamas leadership is deeply entrenched in difficult to reach areas.

The elimination of al-Aaruri presents an opportunity for the political and military echelon in Israel to bring about a significant operational achievement in the ongoing conflict, as the IDF continues its efforts to meet the goals of dismantling the military capacity of Hamas and returning the abductees.

This column will be published tomorrow in “Maariv,” offering further insight into the ongoing conflict and the efforts of the Israeli security forces to address the challenges they face.
