Watan Al-Youm: US State Department Advisor Derek Chollet, accompanied by Assistant Secretary of State for Near Eastern Affairs Barbara Leaf, went to Jordan and the Israeli occupation. To confirm the United States’ commitment to preventing the expansion of the conflict in the region.
The US State Department stated, in a statement published on its website, today, Friday, that the two officials will stress the importance of facilitating the release of all remaining detainees, increasing humanitarian aid to Palestinian civilians in Gaza, and taking all measures to protect civilians.
She added that during their visit to the region, Chollet and Lev are also scheduled to stress the importance of holding extremist settlers accountable for attacks against Palestinians in the West Bank, and reaffirm the responsibility of all parties to help chart a path forward in Gaza that achieves lasting security, based on a sustainable reconstruction mechanism.
