Wayne LaPierre announced this Friday his resignation as president of the National Rifle Association (NRA) of the USA, after more than 30 years at the head of the organization that defends the right of citizens to own and carry firearms.
“I have been a member of this organization for most of my adult life and will never stop supporting the NRA and its fight for freedom of expression.” Second Amendment“LaPierre, 74, said in a statement.

LaPierre, whose resignation will be effective from January 31and three other current and former NRA leaders face a lawsuit filed in 2020 by New York Attorney General Letitia James.
The Prosecutor’s Office alleges that the defendants violated relevant laws to nonprofit organizations and embezzled millions of dollars in NRA funds to support a lavish lifestyle.
The civil trial in Manhattan is due to begin next week and the prosecutor seeks to prohibit LaPierre and the other defendants from holding leadership positions in any nonprofit organization that operates in NY.
