Severe Weather Center 9: Latest Forecast Update and Winter Weather Advisory

by time news

A Winter Weather Advisory has been issued for several counties in the area as a weather system is set to arrive overnight. Meteorologist John Ahrens advised residents on Friday afternoon to stay in bed instead of stocking up on milk and bread.

Road crews will be out in the Foothills and mountains after midnight to ensure that drivers are safe on Saturday morning. The North Carolina Foothills are expected to see a wintry mix, which will transition to rain after 8 a.m. Any icy accumulation on bridges and overpasses is expected to wash out quickly later in the morning.

The storm is expected to move out quickly on Saturday, leading to quieter conditions later in the day. Sunday is forecasted to have favorable weather conditions.

To stay on top of changing weather conditions, residents are encouraged to download the free WSOC-TV weather app and to watch the latest local weather on Channel 9′s Weather 24/7 stream. The stream is available on the website, mobile app, and smart TVs.
