The Junts per Catalunya deputy Irene Negre suffered this Monday around 6:40 p.m. a terrible traffic accident that ended with a car on fire on the C-12 highway in Maials (Lleida).
The deputy was traveling with her van when a car collided with her vehicle, and the second one caught fire. According to the Medical Emergency System (SEM), six people were injured – five less seriously and one slightly – and all of them were transferred to the Arnau de Vilanova Hospital in Lleida.
The deputy explained on the social network X, previously known as Twitter, that she experienced one of her “worst” moments of her life. “Yesterday we lived the worst and most frightening moment of our lives. We were traveling on the way home as a family and the car hit us, skipping the stop sign at full speed,” said the deputy.
In another message, Irene Negre wanted to reiterate her gratitude: “Thank you to everyone for your support. The physical pain will pass, the emotional pain will cost us a little more, but together we will overcome it. The four of us are fine, despite the injuries.” “Being able to continue hugging and loving our children is the best medicine, we have suffered a lot for them.”
The road was closed between 7:01 p.m. and 7:57 p.m. in both directions of the march, and four SEM ambulances traveled to the scene; eight crews from the Generalitat Bombers and members of the Mossos d’Esquadra. Furthermore, Negre thanked the work of the emergency services, the Servei Català de Trànsit and the hospital’s health professionals.
2023 closes with 1,145 deaths
The year 2023 ended with 1,145 deaths on Spanish roads, which represents the same number of deaths in traffic accidents as in 2022, as the Minister of the Interior announced this Thursday.
In 2023, there were 1,048 fatal accidents on Spanish roads, in which 1,145 people died and another 4,495 were seriously injured.
