The Consulate of Spain in Havana has enabled the Bookitit platform to schedule appointments for the delivery of Spanish nationality files for Cubans, in accordance with the provisions of the Democratic Memory Law (LMD)effective from October 2022.

In the month of January 2024, there are spaces available for the 23rd, 24th, 25th, 26th, 29th, 30th and 31st, at different times, depending on the preference of the user who is going to deliver their file at the window. The LMD is only valid for two years, so, in theory, the deadline to receive files would end in October 2024.

Previous steps before requesting an appointment to deliver the Spanish nationality file at the Consulate

For the Bookitit platform to let you book an appointment, you must carry out a series of previous steps, such as sending an email to the embassy to have a username and password.

Document Preparation: Before requesting the appointment, make sure you carefully read the list of documents required for the procedure and have them prepared. Review the necessary documentation according to your case.
Sending Email: You must send a single email to the address [email protected]. Sending multiple emails before receiving a response could block your account.

Photo with Identity Card: Include a clear photo of yourself in the email along with your ID card. The document data must be legible. Do not wear dark glasses or cover your face or hair.
Scanned Documentation: Scan legalized documentation into a single PDF file. The first page must be the photo next to the identity card, followed by the other documents specified in the list of required documents.
Mail subject: The subject of the email must be “LMD APPOINTMENTS”.
Data in the Body of the Email: Write your name, surname, and ID number, separated by semicolons and without apostrophes, accents, or hyphens.

User and Password Reception: You will receive an email with a username and password. Also check your spam folder.
Choice of Date and Time: With the username and password received, you will be able to choose the date and time of your appointment.

The Consulate clarifies that it works under the regime of One Person, One Date, for which “registrations through third parties are not admitted. You must process your registration personally.”

Additionally, they report that “queries will not be answered at this email address. Only in case of error with the password received, you can write to the same address with the subject ‘PASSWORD ERROR’ and attaching the same documents initially sent.”

To request an appointment at the LMD center, it is essential to have the corresponding credentials, which do not expire. One appointment is allowed every six months; If you do not attend, you will have to wait six months from the date of the original appointment to schedule another one.

Once confirmed, the appointment cannot be cancelled, so it is crucial to ensure you can attend with all the necessary documents. Upon entering the consulate, your IC number will be verified and you must present your card along with the documentation specified on the consulate website.

To avoid fraud, do not share your personal data; The consulate is not responsible for the misuse of your credentials or for any resulting financial losses. Responsible use of the appointment system is important to ensure equitable access to the service.
