An unusual incident has generated astonishment on the paradisiacal island of San Andrés, where a hammerhead shark was spotted near the shore of the beach, leading to a shocking encounter with a manta ray. The event has sparked the attention of locals and visitors alike.
According to local reports, the hammerhead shark, a species that can reach impressive lengths of 3.7 to 6.1 meters, was involved in attacking a manta ray with the aim of devouring it.

“It is important to understand that hammerhead sharks play a crucial role in marine food webs. Although they hunt rays, humans are not part of their diet, so caution is essential,” emphasized a Coralina representative. The entity calls for peaceful coexistence and respect for marine life, remembering the importance of preserving these fundamental species in ecological balance.
