The life of a song and its sometimes astonishing rewritings. Metallica’s anthem, “Nothing Else Matters”, created in 1991, was covered in 2021 by Phoebe Bridgers.

The same year, no doubt upset at not having been invited to the gigantic project The Metallica Blacklist where 53 most diverse artists (Miley Cyrus, Elton John, Mac DeMarco, The Neptunes, SebastiAn, among others) indulge in comical reinterpretations ( or not) from this essential Black Album, this American releases her version of Metallica’s slow song. The result is magnificent. Subtly balanced between the delicacies of a piano, the heaviness of the bass and the beautifully ethereal voice of a half-folk, half-pop singer. But we cannot say that this recovery brought him any additional notoriety. The proof is that she is now devoting herself to the very good collaborative project Boygenius with Julien Baker and Lucy Dacus. We even encourage listening to their recent EP The Rest.
